Pistachio

The Pistachio is a plant that can be reach 12 meters high and grown in the cold climate and very poor soils not so fertile. The fruit grows in clusters, comes with husk that contain a thin shell but very strong, that contain the fruit. The maturation makes enlarge the fruit that splits the shell. The plant made fruits every two years. The biggest producers are Iran, California and Turkey. Also Italy it is a producer but only on the Etna slopes, in the Bronte zone. The pistachio has various sizes; the calibre is made per pieces per ounce (for example 20/22, 28/30.)
